Our Offer
Thanks to intensive cooperation between the affected infrastructure managers, it will be possible to offer railway undertakings an improved service concept, which will support the RUs in optimising their productivity and business models for the benefit of competitive rail transport services. Along the lines of "all from a single source", the interfaces are being minimised to give customers the greatest possible convenience and maximum transparency in using the corridor.
Interoperability is to be safeguarded on the whole route by 2015 with state-of-the-art technical features (ERTMS). This results in a technically consistent infrastructure chain. There will be great potential for reducing journey times and for enhancing both flexibility and quality.
Accordingly, there will be savings in costs and an improved competition situation. Capacities will be expanded not only by improving the logistics chain and higher productivity: numerous outstanding infrastructure projects also take account of the increasing demand for capacity along the Corridor. Altogether, a total service concept combined with improved support will bring the customer a clear added value in using the corridor.
The EEIG Corridor Rotterdam - Genoa EWIV is coordinating the programme of measures to bring about the greatest possible simplification in cross-border rail transport for the customer. On political level, our task is to harmonise the interests of the various European countries and the infrastructure managers to facilitate rail freight transport to move from road to rail.
